Harwich House

This renovation and addition reimagines a late-1800s home for modern family living while preserving the character of the historic home. Designed for a young family, the project carefully balances restoration with new construction, creating generous gathering areas, additional bedrooms, and a more open, connected layout within the footprint of a constrained site.

To support the transformation, the existing house was lifted and set on a new foundation, allowing for the addition of a full walkout basement that significantly expands the home’s usable living space. The garage was relocated to improve the site layout and strengthen the relationship between the house, outdoor spaces, and landscape. Though primarily used during the summer months, the architecture and landscape were thoughtfully designed and built for comfortable year-round living.
